Glyn Jones

Glyn Jones was born in the RhonddaValley, South Wales and first studied painting at Cardiff College of Art ( now UWIC ) where he was awarded the Silver Medal. He continued his studies at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, where after graduating he was awarded a postgraduate studentship. He returned to Wales in 1972 as the Head of the School of Fine Art at Cardiff. In 1994 his work received a commendation at the 7th International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Libramont, Belgium. Also that year the University awarded him the title of Professor. He has been a recipient of an Arts Council of Wales major artistís award and a prize-winner at the Television South West/ South West Arts National Exhibition. He has exhibited widely in Europe, North America and the U.K. having work included in many private collections. He has had solo exhibitions in Cardiff, London and New York and his work has been purchased for the collections of the Arts Council of Wales, The Contemporary Art Society for Wales, the Universities at Swansea and Cork, the City of Cardiff, the National Gallery and Museum Cardiff and the National Gallery of Slovakia.
