Alun Pritchard

Being the son of an art teacher and a locally well known artist, Ifor Pritchard, I grew up in an environment of artists and their various styles and a library full of the great artists' work. I have previously shown my art in various exhibitions in North Wales and have work sold to various parts of the UK.
I was always primarily drawn to the Surrealists and Art Decor movement of the 1920's, 1950's Abstract and the Bohemian Art of the 1970's. Favourite artists and influences from these genres include Mondrian, Tanguy, Newman and Pollock. My work draws from all of these styles with the incorporation of my own personal input.
Some of my work are a surreal representation of certain aspects of the world whereas others are more of a physical form of painting that draw a colourful and imaginative response from the canvas. While some may give a sense of motion or dynamic expression others give a more sedate and tranquil essence.
