Andrew Henderson 1931 - 2017
Andrew Henderson has “always painted”, introduced to it as a child by his father, an electrical engineer who was also a productive water colourist. Self-taught, Andrew painted watercolour landscapes (always on-site), exhibiting in The Royal West of England Academy and with the New English Art Club while a student in the 60s. Other activities and professional priorities at Cambridge, St Thomas’ Hospital and at Harvard, however, increasingly intervened. His subsequent appointment as Professor of Cardiology in Wales coincided with an unprecedented period of growth in its underlying research and specialist clinical practice, leaving little opportunity for painting.
