Peter Prendergast 1946 - 2007

Welsh artist Peter Prendergast was one of the country's foremost landscape painters who was inspired by the surroundings of his Snowdonia home, his bold expressionist paintings are noted for their vigour and energy.

He was born in Abertridwr, South Wales in 1946, but lived and worked in North Wales for many years up to his death in 2007. Trained at the Slade School of Fine Art, where he was taught by Frank Auerbach, and Cardiff College of Art, he exhibited widely in Britain and abroad, with increasing success. His work is included in many private and public collections including the Tate Gallery, the National Museum of Wales, Stadts Galerie, Stuttgart, the British Museum and the Arts Council collection.
